The main Energy Balance page asks: is this cell anomalous vs its own history? This page asks a different question: is this month anomalous vs all months?
Two charts build in real time. The first shows the raw monthly global mean — the seasonal cycle of ±10 W/m² is clearly visible. The second removes that cycle using a seasonal climatology derived from the data itself, leaving only the residual signal.
Colored dots mark each month by how many sigma it deviates from normal. Red dots are months the planet cannot easily explain.
